It greets me whenever I pick up my phone or open by iPad to read or check messages. Bad news. Often, usually? supplemented by the picture of the orange menace. There are days that I have difficulty getting out of my robe and slippers to do more than read or watch Netflix.
The healing power of commitment. I have a gig booked. Yes, a gig. At the assisted living facility where Misha works. I am on the assisted living circuit. With playlist established, I sat down at the computer yesterday to compile a PowerPoint presentation. I offer a multi-media program, totally worth my whopping $0 fee. I even have a singer.
I am canceling my Amazon Music* subscription in April, in protest of Jeff Bezos and his questionable political tactics. Meanwhile, it is paid for so I am using it. At the end of the three-hour session, I was radiant with love. Mike was hopeful.
Burt Bacharach sang, what the world needs now is love. Maybe we need music to spark that love. If you are feeling bad, turn on the tunes. It might help.
*Yes, I use streaming services, usually to sample music. If I want to listen to a song repeatedly, especially if performed by a currently live artist, I buy the MP3 and download. Streaming services do not reimburse artists fairly.
